Richard Thompson is currently CEO of Facewatch UK, a computer- based crime reporting company and previously a UK Chief Constable. Originally commissioned into the Royal Green Jackets in 1978, Richard served in Northern Ireland and Hong Kong on counter-terrorist and counter-smuggling operations. During his army career, he also served on loan service with the Sultan of Oman's Land Forces in Dhofar.
After a successful military career, Richard joined the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office in which he served from 1989 until 2007 in some of their most demanding operational roles worldwide. These included Eastern European, African and Middle Eastern appointments at very senior level.
In 2007, Richard was appointed as the Chief Constable of the UK Civil Nuclear Constabulary, a post he held until 2012. He has a law degree from Exeter University, is a graduate of the Harvard Business School, Advanced Management Programme and is a graduate of the Police Strategic Command Course, Bramshill. He is a Bar Standards Lay Member sitting on a number of audit and regulatory boards and a visiting lecturer at the US Naval Post-graduate Course at Monterey and Exeter University.
